We are proud and delighted to be publishing this jewel of a book, a group of short lyrics written after the poems in Jan Zwicky’s award-winning volume, Songs for Relinquishing the Earth (Brick Books, 1999). The finest poetry has always seemed to us to stem from an eye for detail and an ear for the musical phrase. Perhaps that is obvious, but these poems are not. They rejoice rarely in the commonplace. These are, indeed, songs:

her silk shirt and turned it

box made by Natasha Herman, accompanied by a folder containing one of
the 21 poems in holograph, signed by the poet.
